Traveling with your children is a great way to have a fun family experience as well as teach them more about the world around them. However, many times traveling with kids can be cumbersome and trying. Here are some tips for making travel with your children as easy and as wonderful as possible.

One of the most important things that you can do is to get your kids involved with the planning of your vacation. The more input that they have into where you are going and what you are doing, the more fun they’ll have and the more cooperative they’ll be when it comes to doing some things that they don’t want to do, such as visiting museums. If you are touring a certain area let them choose one of the towns to visit and let them plan the itinerary for that day.

Having spending money on their vacation is very important to children. If they know far enough ahead of time they can start to save and look forward to the trip. You can come up with extra chores to help them save even more money. You may find that your children will be even more helpful than usual around the house as they try hard to earn more money to spend!

Another thing you can do to help your children prepare for the vacation is to buy them some books or maps of the location you are traveling to. The more information they have about the area, the more they can look forward to seeing the sights and the more information they have about planning activities.

If you plan to travel to a country where another language is spoken, you may want to help your children prepare by learning a few phrases in the local language. Simple, common expressions, such as “please”, “thank you”, and “good morning” help the children learn the basics of the language, who knows, it could be a good practice for you too. Don’t forget that children learn languages much more easily than adults, so don’t be surprised if they quickly move on to more complex phrases and sentences.

One or two weeks before the launching of your vacation you can buy your children their own backpack to take onto the plane or into the car with them. Allow them to have a choice in what goes into their pack and allow them to take things that will keep them busy on the plane or in the car. This can include books, music, paper and pens, and travel games.

For older children that can write you can buy them a travel journal so that they can keep a written record of the vacation. Choose a journal to which they’ll be able to add photos of the trip after you’ve had them developed. For younger children that can’t write you can buy a photo album for them to collect postcards and other memorabilia from your trip.

Another option to consider is purchasing inexpensive cameras for your children (provided they are old enough to take pictures). There are many reasonably priced cameras, including disposable cameras that let the kids decided what events are important to them and what pictures they’d like to take. Don’t nag your kids about taking pictures, if they see something they like they will take a picture. The point is to help them have fun memories of the trip later.

A careful though must also go into the place where you are going to stay. Kids love the pool so check out if you can stay near one. You can also relax there at the end of the day. Also staying in family hotels is more convenient

Traveling with children doesn’t need to be an unpleasant experience. It can be quite easy to travel with kids as long as you take a little time to make some extra preparations. If you think about the details in advance you are sure to have the trip of a lifetime.

Sending your child to a Wisconsin Summer Camp is a great idea if you have done your homework. The American Camp Association suggest you try these top questions.

What’s the camp’s philosophy? Is it one you’re comfortable with? Is it a good match for your child? Is competition or cooperation emphasized? If it’s a camp run by a religious organization, what religious observances or practices are part of the program? If you’re looking at a sports camp that touts an affiliation with a celebrity athlete, how much time–if any–will the sports star actually spend there?

What does camp do with staff? First aid training? Drug Testing? Do counselors have criminal background checks? What’s the training all about?

What about Staff and Camper return rates? How many counselors are returning this year 50% is a good numbers. How many campers return? Fifty percent is good, and more is better. Still looking for that perfect camp Check out this wonderful Wisconsin Summer Camp.

What’s the ratio of staff to camper? Guidelines for overnight camps are for a 1:6 ratio for ages for younger children, and 1:10 for older teens.

What’s the Staff Ages ? Eighty percent of the staff be’ or older and that all staffers be at least 16 and a minimum of two years older than the campers they supervise. Are the staff a paid position or volunteers?

What medical staff work at the camp and what backup facilities are nearby? The ACA recommends that an overnight camp have a licensed physician or registered nurse on the site every day, and that day camps should have direct phone access. If your child takes medication, has food allergies or a chronic medical condition, be sure you are comfortable that the camp will be able to handle your child’s needs.

How does the camp Punish and Discipline? Know what your camp’s rules are and what breaches would send a camper home. You should be comfortable with these.

What does a camp Day look like? This will help you decide if your child will be happy with the level of physical activity or the amount of time devoted to arts and crafts. Ask how much freedom a child has to choose activities.

Does the camp have vans for transportation? How often are camp vehicles inspected? Who will be driving them and what’s the training.

Ask for references. Finally and most important, get the names of parents with children the same age who have attended the camp.
